You know the culture of carfree is gaining momentum when you see two books come out within months of each other catering to the carfree folks of Chicago. And it's just as exciting to see the web community in Chicago take note of these books with great interviews with the authors.

A friend forwarded me this email newsletter message from Chicago Northside Toyota promoting one of the great advantages of transit. What does it mean when car dealerships start catering to the growing "car-lite" population?

You may have noticed posters and ads around town for the Chicago Park District's Movies in the Park 2009 season. These are great events celebrating our city's public space and our fervent love of summer. This year there was an ambitious schedule of more than 170 movies in neighborhood parks across the city. If you've never been to one, you still have 154 opportunities left before the summer is up! It's a great excuse for a nice walk or bike ride to your local park and an evening outside with your neighbors. Check out the Chicago Park District Movies in the Park Schedule for a full listing.
